Elyse Claire Lodermeier is a Korean-American adoptee artist currently located in Saint Paul, MN. They received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art with a concentration in painting and a minor in art history from the University of Wisconsin-Stout in 2020. In 2022 Lodermeier joined Public Functionary and is currently a community studio artist within the program.

Creating art acts as a form of healing to Lodermeier as she navigates and comes to peace with her humanity. Through the process of searching for place within identity, Lodermeier creates paintings that honor the quieter parts of existing and spaces both moments and experiences are created within. Lodermeier’s practice acts as journal entrees, painting parts of memories and what she has experienced in order to create value in making peace with parts of the self. Each piece echoes reminders of our existence, seeking tenderness held alongside reflection.

Currently Lodermeier also creates jewelry that helps celebrate the adornment of the self in a maximalist, whimsical way. Her jewelry for sale can be found here.
